Davido (born David Adedeji Adeleke) is a Nigerian Afro Pop Singer, Song Writer, and also a music producer. Davido was born in Atlanta GA, USA on November 21st to Mr. And Mrs. Adeleke and attended The British International School, Lagos.
In the Nigerian Music Industry there are some who he considers as having been his biggest influences musically, they include Big names in the game like Don Jazzy, 2 Face idibia, Sound Sultan and Wande Coal.
It was while in the USA pursuing a degree in Business administration at the university of Oakwood where his Interests for music deepened where he met an American kid named Jaymo, who happened to be his neighbor upstairs who constantly rattled the Ceiling of his room with heavy music. He was equally a member of a music band while at oak tree university
He bought musical equipment’s and started making beats, in addition to recording vocal references. He dropped out of Oakwood University when he started getting bad grades and relocated to London, where he focused more of his energy towards vocals as opposed to production. While in London, Davido used to spent most of his time making beats and recording vocal references to send to a cousin in Lagos, a fellow musician with a trove of industry contacts.
On February 2, 2014, Davido released “Aye”, the fourth single from his upcoming album. The song was produced by T Spice. The music video for “Aye” was released on February 7, 2014; it was directed by Clarence Peters. According to the music video’s synopsis, “Davido plays a poor farmer who falls in love with the prince’s love interest.”
Between 2013 and 2015, he released the singles “Gobe”, “One of a Kind”, “Skelewu”, “Aye”, “Tchelete (Goodlife)”, “Naughty”, “Owo Ni Koko”, “The Sound” and “The Money”. The aforementioned singles were reportedly intended to be singles off the album, The Baddest.
